Form: "I, ___, take you,___,to be my wife/husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and bad, in sickness and in health.
I will love you and honor you all the days of my life."
Minister: Bishop, Priest or Deacon preform ceremony but the bride and groom are the ministers of the Sacrament.
Rite: During the ceremony, songs are sung as well as three readings are read. The statement of intentions are asked as well as the exchange of consent. Then the blessing and giving of rings happen, during this time the form is stated " I, ___, take you,___,to be my wife/husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life." As well as the form being said the matter being present shows the validity of the sacrament. Unity candles are lit to symbolize the couple coming together under the light of God. Communion is after this and then the final blessings and the dismissal of the people. Often before a wedding the minister will meet with the couple to make sure that they are ready and able to fulfill this commitment to one another.

Readings For My Wedding:
First Reading-Genesis 1:26-28 The Creation of Man and Woman
I chose this as my first reading because in this reading it tells of the creation of man and woman and the reasons for their creation. When man and woman join in Matrimony it's fulfilling God's plan. This reading illustrates the importance of man and woman joining together in a holy sacrament for a common goal of repopulating God's children.
Second Reading-Ephesians 5:21-33 Instructions for a Christian Household
I chose this as my second reading because it teaches us how to live a correct life of marriage. It stresses the importance of our dedication to our spouse while also being dedicated to God. This passage illustrates rules that the wife should follow and rules that a husband should abide by as well.
Gospel Reading-John 2:1-12 Wedding at Cana
This gospel is important to me because it has to do with the sacrament of Matrimony while also tying in a saying that is dear to my heart. The saying " Do whatever he tells you." is near to my heart because at my High School this saying is everywhere. I love this quote because it shows that we should put all of our faith in God and trust in his plan for us. Marriage is a commitment that God has planned for us so this story is perfect for my Gospel.
